In 1988, Clinton J. Roberts
founded Alternative Sentencing Consultants, Inc. a private consulting
firm that provides State and Federal sentencing and mitigation services,
as well as post conviction relief.
The consulting firm works in conjunction with Criminal Defense
Attorneys to prepare written memoranda and to present recommendations
advocating alternatives to incarceration and/or to provide information
to the court for downward departures in State and Federal cases.
Mr. Roberts has over 20 years of professional
experience in the Criminal Justice System including 10 years as a State
of Connecticut Probation Officer. Furthermore,
Mr. Roberts lectures before county, state and national bar associations
on public policy and criminal justice issues including the death
penalty.
Mr. Roberts’ education includes a Bachelor of
Arts degree from Fairfield University and a Master of Arts Degree in
Public Policy and Law from the joint degree program at Trinity College
and the University of Connecticut School of Law.
He is a member of The Sentencing Project, Washington, D.C., the
National Association for Sentencing Advocates, and an Associate Member
of the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
